Is it possible to live without food? Surprisingly, the answer seems to be YES.

Such people are called AUTOTROPHS: people with an organism that provide itself with food, like plants. They don’t need to eat nor drink, and live on perfectly healthily. They can go on hunger strikes for decades.

Apparently, there are more than 3000 people in the world who live without eating.

Prahlad Jani (78), an Indian holy man, stopped to eat and drink when he was 8 years old. He surprised all the world by proving that this holy man doesn’t need to consume not even water.

He was examined by a group of scientists in Sterlin Hospital, in a western Indian city of Ahmedabad. During 10 days of experiement under constant observation, he didn’t consume any food and "neither did he spent urine nor stool". Yet, he is fine in mental and phisical, says doctors. And he was watched 24 hours a day, prohibited to take a bath, and was not given even a drop of water.

Most people can live without food for several weeks, but without water, average human can survive only 3 or 4 days.

Ahmedabad’s Association of Phisicians say that despite no water entering in his body, urine formed in his bladder, and was RE-ABSORBED by the bladder walls. Scientists checked his blood, scanned his brain, he went through almost all kinds of inner body checks, but after all there was no change to his body condition.

Back in India, he lives in a cave ever since he stopped to eat at the age of 8, when he says he was blessed by a goddess. According to him, he obtain water and energy through a hole in his palate.

Hira Ratan Manek (66), an Indian engineer, who hasn’t eaten nor drunk for 8 years, was invited by NASA to study how he had survived on liquid and SUNLIGHT.

NASA reported that he survived 130 days only with water, and they even named it after his name: HRM phenomenon.

He stopped to eat completely after he went on his pilgrimage to Himalaya.

"Every evening, he stares at the sunlight for 1 hour without batting an eyelid. It is his main food. Occasionally he takes coffee, tea, or ther drinks.", says his wife, Vimla.

Mr.Marek explains, "This method wakes up the ability that human naturally has, and revive the brain. There are already a lot of people in the history who didn’t eat. British Royal Medical Institution has reported that the sunlight provides us an ideal energy. We focus on negative effects of sunlight nowadays, but actually, more problems are caused because of lack of sunlight. As I practice fast, I follow the teaching in old bibles of Hindu and Jina. " He also claims the method is purly scientific, that anyone can practice.

There are more than a few examples like this, Dr. Michael Werner, a German scientist who has lived solely on sunlights for 4 years, Zinaida Baranova, a Russian 67-year-old woman who remains in phisical age of 20 without eating for more than 4 years, etc. And there are social groups to experiment living without food.

According to recent nutrition study, Vitamine B12, necessary for human body, exists only in animal food. So, technically speaking, being vegitarian is impossible. However, it has been found that there exists enough Vitamine B12 in their body. A following research reported that a bacteria in human intestine composes the Vitamine. Furthermore, another research reports that human intestine is capable of producing a bacteria that can compose Amino Acid.

A new human evolution? Just going back to our human potential ability?? A miracle solutions for over-eating? Do you think it’s worth trying?

Sawako, this is the first time I hear such things. It’s really interesting, but I’ll never try. Eating is one of the greatest enjoyments in our lives, isn’t it??

Indeed!! If my stomache should retrogress by not eating, it would do more harm than good for me…to think of giving up all those delicioius foods in the world!! …though i might try looking at sunlight in the evening if it reduces some appetite, as Mr. Manek teaches us:-PP
