Japan becomes world champion in WBC
San Diego, Calfornia—Hoisting the champion trophy, made by Tiffany, Japan celebrates the championship of World Baseball Classic. Although Japan lost against South Korea twice, it won on the second time, to win against Cuba and get to the championship.
Baseball is by far the most popular sport in Japan…there are 2 separate leagues, one consists of professional teams and the other of teams owned by companies. There are about a dozen teams for each, and they compete against each other the numer of the games they won. On baseball season, there take place more than 100 games..though I don’t know exact number:-P People play baseball from children to adults. So, imagine the excitement of being the world champion! A moment after Japan won, people on the street rushed to get the special souvenire edition of newspaper, resulting in more than 20 people getting hurt. The Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi expressed congratulations to the team, as well.
